Chief entered the development arena through developing its own properties, a process that included securing all the land acquisition financing and permits as well as participating in the engineering, project management, and construction aspects of the projects.
Since then, Chief Construction has developed over a million square feet of office, industrial, residential, hospitality, retail, and mixed-use space in Lincoln, Nebraska. Chief also expanded its Hastings ethanol plant from a 10 million gallon per year plant to a 70 million gallon per year plant.
Two development projects include Prairie Commons in Grand Island, Nebraska and Fountain Point in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Prairie Commons will be a 108-acre green field site that will mark the entrance to Grand Island. The master plan for this development is zoned as commercial development and includes a 174,000 square foot hospital, 66,000 square foot medical office building, additional wellness facilities, a hotel with conference space, mixed-use space to include retail and restaurants, walking trails, a public market and much more. This development will engage the community, families, and individuals to work, live, play, and learn in this space. The connectivity of the entire development allows the public to interact with a variety of services quickly and easily. This development will provide a vibrant, pedestrian friendly development for local residents and visitors alike.
Fountain Point is developing 55 acres in southwest Norfolk into a medical campus focused on the well-being of the community through apartment housing, assisted living/memory care, and health care services. The development will feature green space, water features, a hike and bike trail, and strategic entry and exit points for traffic to provide easy access to the facilities. The vision is to offer a continuum of care for the residents who live in and around the city of Norfolk.
Chief’s vertical integration of development, construction products and services, and steel construction results in high quality and value in development projects. Chief’s visionary leaders allow the organization to adapt to the changing landscape and marketplace to achieve continuous growth and successful development projects.
